Simply click on the name of any of the following organizations or government agencies while connected to the Internet.

1. The National Park Service (NPS) website has a wealth of information about any park in the system. If you’re planning a trip to a park or just want information about any unit of the national park system, this is a great place to start.

2. National Parks Conservation Association is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, which since 1919 has been the leading voice of the American people in the fight to safeguard our National Park System. NPCA, its members, and partners work together to protect the park system and preserve our nation’s natural, historical, and cultural heritage for future generations. Their website is a great source of information about how you can help protect these beloved places. 


3. The Association of National Park Rangers . Want to know how to become a park ranger?  This organization has put together an excellent small booklet, “Live the Adventure—Join the National Park Service.” Ordering information is available on their website—just click here for more details.

4.  National Parks Traveler is an excellent source of current information about issues in the national parks and links to other applicable sites.

5. For kids and teachers! Are you looking for fun on the web? This link to the National Park Service website has what you are looking for! Rangers and scientists at parks listed on this webpage have created on-line activities for fun and to help you get to know the Parks a bit better. If you’re feeling really adventurous, click on WebRangers, the on-line Junior Ranger program that’s packed with fun and games.

6. The National Weather Service website is a good source of weather information for any area of the country. Check the forecast prior to heading out on your next trip to a park—or anywhere else in the U.S.

7. The Bureau of Land Management is an agency within the U.S. Department of the Interior that administers 261 million acres of America’s public lands, located primarily in 12 Western States. Their areas provide a variety of recreational opportunities.

8. The United States Forest Service is another federal agency which is a major provider of areas for outdoor recreation.
